HIGH NEP COUNT

  • Incorrect settings between cylinder and tops, doffer, back plate and lickerin.Refer setting chart.
  • Dull cylinder and doffer wire.
  • Dull or damaged tops.
  • Blunt or damaged lickerin wire.
  • Incorrect relative humidity – We recommend a relative humidity of 45% to 55% for cottons at 700 to 800 F and 55% to 65% for synthetics at 800 to 900 F.
  • For good carding action we recommend 30,000 to 33,000 fibres in the sliver cross section.The hank of sliver should be chosen accordingly.
  • Loading of cylinder.

DISAPPEARING WEB

  • Nose of undercasing too long for material being processed.
  • Undercasing set too close to the cylinder. Refer setting chart.
  • Damaged or dull doffer wires.

Cloudy Web

  • Incorrect setting of lickerin/lickerin under-easing. Refer setting chart.
  • Damaged or blunt lickerin wire.

Excessive Blow out at cylinder

  • Incorrect setting of undercasing and front cylinder plates. Refer setting chart.
  • Incorrect setting of cylinder bends.
  • Correct lap width to suit card width.

flat Strips too heavy

  • Wide settings of front top plate and back plate. Refer setting chart.
  • Loading of cylinder.
  • Lickerin undercasing too close to lickerin.

lint loss at lickerin

  • Close setting of lickerin undercasing.
  • Dull or damaged lickerin wire.

web sticking

  • Worn out or damaged scraper blades.
  • Insufficient tension on scraper blades.
  • Insufficient draft between crush rolls and calender rolls.
  • High crush roll pressure.
  • High relative humidity.

loss in yarn strength

  • High crush roll pressure.
  • Incorrect choice of lickerin wire.
  • Close setting of feed plate and lickerin. Refer setting chart.
  • High speed of lickerin roller.

holes in web

  • Accumulation of fibres on doffer end screen.
  • Flocking on frame side between cylinder and doffer.
  • Damaged doffer wire.
