Proper maintenance of tops is equally critical for optimum performance of cards. Carding action causes wear of the wire tip, which needs periodic grinding. Often the tops get loaded with impurities like fibre fragments, seed coats, micro dust, spin finish, dye or tint particles. This impairs the working of the card. Cleaning manually with a brush or with compressed air is time consuming and may cause damage to the wires.

ICC has developed Sharprite Tops to perform both these functions. Grinding and cleaning can be done on the card, saving valuable man-hours.

The special emery fillet roller resharpens the wire tip accurately, helping to retain the original shape of the wire. The abrasive nylon brush can be used to polish the wire sides and clean the tops of all embeddings.
